In the 1800's their were more Baptist church members and churches than Methodist churches.
During this period of time, the Methodist congregation in Cades Cove met in a log cabin to serve the Lord.
A group of Methodist faith based members in Cades Cove got together and raised $115.00. The story goes that JD McCampbell who was a carpenter and blacksmith used the $115.00 and built the church in 115 days. in 1902.
Later JD McCampbell also served served as the congregation's pastor.
